NYX Butter Lipstick First Impression + Swatches

Hey Guys!

Today I'm here to show you some more swatches of my lip haul I posted a little while back. I've already shown swatches of the new Rimmel chubby sticks I picked up, so if you'd like to see those, click >here<.

Butter Lipsticks. When you hear that statement, what do you think of? I, personally, think of something that's ultra moisturizing and creamy. I'm happy to say that NYX hit the nail on the head with the formula of these. They are very opaque and it only takes a few swipes to cover your entire lips. I have some of the darker shades, but I've read that some of the lighter shades are streaky and takes a bit to build up to the actual color that's shown in the tube. The darker shades that I purchased do not have that problem, fortunately.

The four shades I picked up:

Mary Janes | Razzle | Hunk | Hot Tamale

Mary Janes | Razzle | Hunk | Hot Tamale

Mary Janes is a beautiful deep brick red. I think it'd be perfect for those that are afraid of rep lipstick because you can easily sheer it out and it becomes a nice stain.

Razzle is a bright blue based pink. It's probably my favorite color out of the four I picked up and if you've followed my blog for any amount of time, you shouldn't be surprised! This will get a lot of wear out me in the upcoming months.

Hunk is such an interesting color, it's described as a blue violet. I love the duo chrome look that this has on my lips.

Hot Tamale is a red-orange. It's my least favorite of the bunch, only because my lips and orange colored anything don't really mesh well. I do love this color though.

OVERALL:
I like these lipsticks. I do advise you to exfoliate your lips because, even though they're creamy, they will show any kind of dry patches you have! I haven't worn these for a long period of time yet, so I can't talk about how long they last on the lips. You can purchase these from Ulta, Nyxcosmetics.com, or anywhere else NYX is sold!

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette ::First Impressions + Swatches::

Hey Guys!

Ever since I saw this beauty pop up on some blogs a few weeks ago, I KNEW I had to have it in my possession!

"Indulge your craving for chocolate with these 16 antioxidant-rich cocoa powder infused matte and shimmer shades. Inspired by our best-selling cocoa powder based Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. Chocolate Bar comes with our signature Glamour Guide with three beauty looks to get you started."

Yes, it smells just like chocolate! I even had bugs flying up to me while I was outside trying to take pictures!

The first half of the palette has more of the natural, neutral colors.

The second half of the palette has more purple, mauve, burgundy tones.

PROS:

  • The smell is divine.
  • Great variety of mattes and shimmer shadows.
  • Well rounded colors.
  • No fall out was experienced from the shimmery shades.
  • Sturdy case.
  • Adequate amount of shadows.

CONS:
  • Matte shadows aren't as smooth as I expected.
  • Shadow names aren't physically on the palette.

This palette retails for $49 and is available on Sephora.com! Will you be picking it up?

Naked3 Swatches + Review (WOC Worthy?)

Hey Guys!

I apologize if this is, like, your 100th post about the Naked3 that's popped up on your blog feed in the past couple of weeks, but I just wanted to put my swatches up. I'm not sure how many brown girls have them up and I just want to help in any way possible! :)

So... as you know (or maybe not), the Naked3 is the "rosy" sister palette of the Naked dynasty that Urban Decay has so eloquently built. Like in the past, for $52, you get 12 [all new!] shades and this time the palette comes with a double ended synthetic brush and four Urban Decay Primer Potion samples.

The packaging is the same as the Naked2 except it has this beautiful water ripple effect on the top. I personally don't own the Naked2 so I can't really vouch for the stability of the packaging.

Let's get onto the swatching!

Strange | Dust | Burnout | Limit | Buzz | Trick
Thoughts On The First Six Shades:

  • Strange & Limit are the only two matte shades. They have good pigmentation and aren't chalky on my skin.
  • Dust is very, very odd. One minute it swatches wonderfully & the next it's all patchy and sheer. Be aware of that when using it on the eye.
  • Trick is aptly named because you have to pull out some tricks to get this very sheer shade to show up. It's one of the more unique shades since it has a peachy-golden shift, so it's very disappointing that it requires so much work.

Nooner | Liar | Factory | Mugshot | Darkside | Blackheart

Thoughts On The Last Six Shades:

  • I love every one of these shades!!
  • Factory is my favorite shadow out of all the colors, followed by Darkside.
  • Nooner is the only matte shade in this group and is such a unique color. I cannot wait to play with it!
  • With the shimmery shades, you'll probably need to tap off your brush so you don't experience fallout.

Final Verdict:

Do you need this palette? YES! Even if you have the other two, I still say yes. The only way I'd say steer clear is if pink shadows don't look particularly well on your eyes. Most importantly, is this black girl friendly? Yes it is! I see myself using this so much and I'm very excited! Stay tuned for an upcoming post about possible drugstore "dupes".

This is currently sold out on Sephora.com, but it's on Ulta.com and it's also in stores, so go run and purchase!

MAC Lipstick Haul + Quick Swatches:: Punk Couture & Studded Kiss

Hey Guys!!

A couple of weeks ago, Nordstrom.com was allowing you to pre-order lipsticks from the new MAC collection Punk Couture [Release Date: 12-26], so I picked up two of the five lipsticks($15.00 each) available!

From MAC's website:
"Punk's rebel spirit and revolutionary impact on fashion inspires an exclusively-online collection of hautecore colours, superbly M∙A∙C. Lips and nails attract all the right attention in blackened plums and deep burgundy, while Fluidline and Liquid Eye Liner give intense definition for that daringly gorgeous glare."

The two picked up are Studded Kiss (A deep brick red), & Punk Couture (A blackened purple):

Punk Couture | Studded Kiss

Punk Couture | Studded Kiss
*Sorry for the quality, I took both pictures on my phone*

Each lipstick is a matte formula and I find them to be on par with the other MAC matte lipsticks. As usual, you'll need to exfoliate before using these because every dry patch will show up, but the wear is not uncomfortable. I plan on also ordering Investigator when the collection releases!

I decided I wanted to do a "punk" look, so here's a quick OOTD!!

Me wearing Punk Couture [Follow me on IG!]

My "punk" inspired look
Aviators: Prescribed | Dress: Torrid | Tights: Target | Boots: Charlotte Russe[here]| Jacket: F21

So, there was nothing couture about my outfit today, but I kinda liked dressing differently than I usually do!!

Are You Picking Something Up From This Collection?!

MAC Pigment Haul + Swatches

Hey Guys!

I ordered a few MAC pigments from Makeup Geek's website and I was pretty happy with my purchases so I wanted to share them with you!

Clockwise: Reflects Blackened Red | Reflects Antique Gold | Museum Bronze | Reflects Turquatic

SWATCHES:

The only one I was disappointed in was the Reflects Turquatic because it's more of a glitter, but I guess it could work over a pretty blue shadow.

So, are there any other pigments you suggest I should get? Because, I am definitely buying more! lol

Mini Drugstore Lippie Haul + Swatches!!!

Hey Guys!
I picked up a few lipsticks these past couple of weeks. Two from Milani and two from Revlon.

Milani Flamingo Pose | Milani Teddy Bare | Revlon Raspberry Bite | Revlon Cherries In The Snow

Flamingo Pose

Teddy Bare

Raspberry Bite

Cherries In The Snow

The Milani lipsticks have a very loud watermelon scent and it's apparent as you're applying, but it disappears. They are somewhat less moisturizing than I expected, but if you put on a lipbalm before, you'll be fine. They're super opaque.

The Revlon lipsticks are much creamier in texture and opaque as always. I've been wanting Cherries In The Snow forever! It's a really pretty color. [Revlon Cosmetics & Beauty Tools are 40% off this week at Rite Aid!!]

*NOTE* All of them except Teddy Bare stain.

Have you hauled anything recently?

TheBalm Meet Matt(e) Nude Palette + Swatches

Hey Guys!
A few weeks back, Hautelook was having a sale on TheBalm. One of the items I picked up was the Meet Matt(e) Nude palette which is a palette that consists of 9 matte shadows all of them are named a different "Matt".

These are just neutrals that I think would be great to add to any collection. There are a mixture of warm and cool undertoned shadows. The only shadow I had a problem swatching was Matt Lombardi. It was somewhat less pigmented than the others. Other than that one, the shadows are incredibly smooth and soft. This palette retails for $42 on their site, but I'd wait for it to go on sale on Hautelook again!

Do you have this palette? Is it something that looks interesting to you?

Mini MAC Archie's Girls Collection Haul + Swatches!

Hey Guys!!

Tomorrow [Thursday, February 7th] MAC is releasing their Archie's Girls Collection in US stores, but [like usual] they released the collection online a few days earlier! I have always been an Archie's Comics fan. I used to love getting them from the grocery store when I was younger.

I only picked up a few things because not much appealed to me. This was a huge collection and thankfully I didn't want more!

How cute is the packaging?!

Let me say how happy I was that these were actual boxes and not just sleeves on the regular boxes like the past LE collections have been. I also love the white color. Some say the packaging is cheesy or corny, but it's based off of a comic book, so what do you expect?! Haha I think it's very well done.

I picked up four things, but I'm going to show you three because the fourth hasn't arrived yet.

I picked up the blush from Veronica's side:

Prom Princess is described as a mid-tone violet pink and it's a Satin. This is my first MAC blush and I love the texture and how well it blends out![$22 USD]

I picked up two lip glasses, one from each "side":

Betty:

Kiss & Don't Tell is described as a bright coral.[$16.50USD]

Veronica:

Mall Madness is described as a mid-tone pink violet.[$16.50USD]

These are also my first ever MAC lip glasses[shocker!]. They are known to have a slightly stickier texture, but I realized that the formula helps it last longer on the lips. I got about four to five hours wear [with minimal drinking] from Mall Madness.

Well that's my haul! I hope this helped some of you with making choices for you list!

Do you plan to pick something up from this collection?

New NYX Round Lipsticks!

Hey Guys!
I recently got some NYX lipsticks from a fellow beauty enthusiast that was purging her collection.

B52 | Femme | Pandora

  • B52[Soft Mauve Pink]- This is a cream finish and would be a great pinky nude.
  • Femme [Bright Pink Red]- I personally don't think of this as having any pink at all. I think it looks like a cream version of their matte lipstick "Indie Flick". It's a hot red-orange in my opinion.
  • Pandora[Violet]- This is a really pretty purple but it's a frost and I don't like that formula of lipstick. Super pretty color nonetheless!

SWATCHES:

I do plan on ordering some more of these lipsticks because I do like the formula and the pigmentation. You can buy these lipsticks at Ulta or online at myxcostmetics.com or cherryculture.com. They run anywhere from $3-4!

Do you have any color suggestions that I should try?

Thanks so much for reading!

December Ipsy Bag[My First One!]

Hey Guys!
My Ispy Bag arrived in the mail and I was super excited. This is the first one so I couldn't wait to tear into it. Here's what I received:

The bag is really cute. A gunmetal silver with a hot pink inside and "ipsy" inscribed on it.

CONTENTS:

  • Mai Couture Highlighter Papier
  • NYX Loose Pearl Shadow in Charcoal
  • Be A.... Bombshell Lip Gloss in Hot Mess
  • Mirabella Prime for Face & Eyes
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero

SWATCHES:

Overall I'm pretty content with this bag. It was only $10 so I feel like it was worth it. My favorite thing for sure is the gloss. It's my first red gloss! Can you believe that?!

Do you subscribe to Ipsy? What were your thoughts on this bag?
